Lorne Ride 26-AUG-2007
By Terry Webster
The Webster clan x 6 met up with Greg and Dot Marshall at the Wharf Shed Café, Eastern Beach in Geelong, at around 9:40AM. Shortly afterwards, the Weaver clan x 6 arrived, followed shortly afterwards by Brian Williams. Morning refreshments were had by all before we set off to Lorne. There were 6 bikes and two carloads making the trip. We arrived at the Arab Café in Lorne, parked our bikes in front and enjoyed a good lunch with great company.
The weather for the day was absolutely perfect, although Terry & Andrew rode through a couple of short burst of rain early in the day in transit from Patterson Lakes to Geelong - nothing to worry about though, and certainly not enough to dampen the spirit of the ride.
At Lorne, the sun was out in full force and the seas were only just rippled, with a few surf breakers coming into the beach. The kids enjoyed the sand and trampolines, with Leonie as guardian, while others chatted away or took a stroll down the main street of Lorne.
We started heading off for home around 2:00 pm, with Greg, Dot and Brian heading for Geelong, Terry, Andrew and clan heading for the Queenscliffe Ferry (which we only just made!!!) and Dyl, Page, Leonie and Mason making their way back to Geelong a little later.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable day. The weather was great, company excellent and all bikes performing well. I clocked another 347 kms on my bike that day and finished off at home with a nice hot shower, a glass (or two) of chilled wine and a smile on my face.
